A FEW NEW VERSES by Alfonso León Daza Vargas

Harsh darkness cliffs down
and my mind, a motionless cloud,
strums the opacity of my void.
A void unable to hold the nothingness:
there are the tides, waves, oceans of you
ceaselessly upheaving the still happening of me.
One point of consciousness
masks your humming image,
a sleepless spear through a starved wound,
icicles of sharpened fleece
instilling a scourging beat my heart sings to.
That hopeless longing unknown to reason
has become the wretched urn
of menacing pits surrounding these thoughts.

VERSÍCULOS PREMIADOS (IN ENGLISH)

SURFACES
My pale dream happened as an ebbed night.
I had smiles from the darkness of my body.
Then it was no more.
Yet the surface of your breathing
stirs my air.
(A misty evidence: you within.)
The horizon of your eyes
has stayed beholding me
but not as a place I might reach,
not as a hope wanting to be.
I have the stretched hue of your face
long known by my hollow path
laden with the unwanted magnitude
of overlaying disappointments:
those ghosts of you flaming everywhere.

ANEW
Those rising memories shall stand near my eyes.
I remember my quiet heart around you,
my shouting eyes upon you,
the vanishing sorrow through your presence.
All dreams to come linger on in my veins,
your touch spreading to release me,
your sight widening to warm this fool in chains,
now the ocean in a corpse,
now the skies in a deep sunk room,
images of a galaxy on dry rocks.
Your truth lighting up the earth.
A star in my cave.

ANOTHER POEM

I just finished writing this one.

My pale dream happened as an ebbed night.
I had smiles from the darkness of my body.
Then it was no more.
Yet the surface of your breathing
stirs my air.
(A misty evidence: you within.)
The horizon of your eyes
has stayed beholding me
but not as a place I might reach,
not as a hope wanting to be.
I have the stretched hue of your face
long known by my hollow path
laden with the unwanted magnitude
of overlaying disappointments:
those ghosts of you flaming everywhere.

ONE OF MY POEMS

Those rising memories shall stand near my eyes.
I remember my quiet heart around you,
my shouting eyes upon you,
the vanishing sorrow through your presence.
All dreams to come linger on in my veins,
your touch spreading to release me,
your sight widening to warm this fool in chains,
now the ocean in a corpse,
now the skies in a deep sunk room,
images of a galaxy on dry rocks.
Your truth lighting up the earth.
A star in my cave.
